Government concerns about betting shops and the launch of the point of consumption regime for online gambling accelerated a wider review of the licensing codes for all sectors.
Against this political backdrop, more than ten consultations have been held by the government and Gambling Commission into a wide range of areas including advertising, responsible gambling and planning laws.
Further reviews of the industry are expected to take place this year and beyond, meaning more change is on the way whoever wins the general election on May 7.
