On January 14, 2019, the DOJ’s Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) published a new legal opinion regarding the scope of the federal Wire Act, overturning the same OLC’s earlier 2011 opinion that seemingly gave the go-ahead for states to regulate online gambling within their borders.
