The online gambling market in Spain officially opened in 2011 and is now home to 52 operators. This number is expected to grow, after the Spanish Ministry of Finance published the approved terms and conditions for the third public tender for general online gaming licences on December 16, 2017.
Unlike the two previous public tenders, operators will have one year to submit an application to the Spanish Gaming Authority (DGOJ). Once this window closes, stakeholders will be required to wait at least 18 months until a new licensing period can be initiated.
