Sweden’s gambling market is set to open to private operators for the first time as the government has launched a brand new legal framework for gambling. On March 1, 2018, the Swedish Gambling Authority (Lotteriinspektionen) estimated gross gaming revenue in the Swedish gambling market as a whole to be SEK22.6bn. According to the report, “growth is being driven primarily by operators without Swedish permits who continue to win market share. These operators reported gross gaming revenue of around SEK5.5bn, up 12.8 percent on 2016.”
