Swedish gambling monopoly Svenska Spel is seeking to offer better odds on sports, and bets on e-sports and daily fantasy sports, to challenge unlicensed offshore operators, according to a leaked government report.
The state-owned operator would like to return up to 97 percent of bets to players, up from a current ceiling of 85 percent, according to a document filed with the Ministry of Finance, according to Breakit, a Swedish technology publication.
“Svenska Spel cannot compete on price with the foreign-based gambling companies,” the operator said, according to the report.
Proposed licence amendments call for allowing bettors to create a “dream team” of players for betting purposes, the equivalent of daily fantasy sports, as well as betting on e-sports.
