Spanish Online Licences, Sanctions On June 1

Spain’s government has announced it intends to issue online gambling licences, and introduce its sanctions regime, on Friday June 1, but foreign operators are still troubled by claims for four years of back-taxes.

The Spanish Ministry of Finance announced the June 1 target for opening the online gambling market yesterday, at the same time as officials released a draft of the gambling advertising code. 

Applicants will be informed by Spanish gambling regulator, the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGoJ), and a list of licensees will be published on the DGoJ's website, the government note said yesterday.
