After calling for the prohibition of Internet gambling in platforms for the last two presidential elections, delegates at the Republican National Convention on Monday in Cleveland adopted a platform which does not include a single reference to gambling.
The glaring omission is noteworthy partly because the 54-page platform mentions the Internet 25 times on ten different pages.
A joint lobbying effort by the Poker Players Alliance and other online gambling advocates apparently persuaded the Republican Platform Committee to leave out the proposed online wagering ban included in the party’s platforms in 2008 and 2012.
