Odds Shorten For New York Poker Approval In 2016

An online poker bill could be passed before the end of New York’s 2016 session in June as a key Empire State lawmaker and established casino interests warm to the legislation.

New York Assembly Racing and Wagering Committee chairman Gary Pretlow told GamblingCompliance he is now willing to advance his legislation authorizing online poker, having reconsidered his opposition to moving forward until an ongoing expansion of land-based casinos is complete.

Pretlow introduced a bill to legalize online poker in January, just weeks before a companion measure in the Senate was amended to reserve web poker licenses for New York’s land-based casinos and racinos.
