New York Online Poker Bill Delayed Until 2017

New York’s legislature failed last session to pass a bill that would have allowed the state’s racino and casino licensees to apply for 11 online poker licenses, but the measure is expected to be back on the agenda when lawmakers return to Albany in January. 

Republican Senator John Bonacic’s bill passed the Senate with overwhelming support — 53 to 5 — but it was eventually blocked by the bill’s Democratic sponsor in the Assembly, Gary Pretlow, chair of the Committee on Racing and Wagering.
