Japan’s Bureaucrats Craft Singapore-Style Regulatory Regime
Japan’s Integrated Resort (IR) task force of bureaucrats has concluded a first "super draft" of an implementation bill based largely on the regimes of the US and Singapore, a move that boosters hope will pave the way for casinos in Japan when the issue is brought up for an initial vote later this year.
The formation of a 37-member group of bureaucrats from a number of Japanese ministries was heralded as a strongly positive indicator of intent when it was created in March 2014.
