German Judges Cheer Industry With ECJ Referral

Germany’s Federal Court of Justice kicked a ruling on the enforceability of German internet gambling restrictions upstairs to the European Court of Justice, a move that boosted online gambling companies that plan to keep operating while legal uncertainty continues. 

The court's decision on Thursday to send questions to the European court pushes back for at least a year a potential ruling that would clarify whether German states can ban online casinos and narrowly restrict sports betting.
