Plans to curtail online gambling offerings into Holland from the former Dutch colony of Curaçao have run into difficulties as the Netherlands’ gambling regulator struggles to establish any dialogue with their Caribbean counterparts.
Last month, the Dutch lower house’s long-awaited vote clearing the way for national licensing of online gambling in 2017 also granted approval to a motion calling for the Dutch regulator, the Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), to assert greater control over Curaçao’s online gambling industry.
Curaçao is currently classed as a constituent island of Holland, since the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles in 2010.
