Betfair’s Suitors May Look Back To ‘Star Business’ Strategy

A CVC-led offer for Betfair is forcing the UK betting exchange to reveal its turnaround strategy, and may give clues about whether it sees its future as the “star business” investors bought at its 2010 initial public offering. 

Alternatively, it may continue edging away from its core betting exchange business to focus on a strategy of cost-cutting and simplification that would make it more like rivals Paddy Power, William Hill or Ladbrokes, according to one former executive.
