Australia’s Robust VIP Play Subdued By China Marketing Crackdown

Lucrative Chinese VIP play at Australia’s casinos is coming under increasing pressure as the effects of the mainland government’s crackdown on high-roller activity spreads.

A series of home raids in Chinese cities including Beijing and Shanghai last week resulted in 18 Crown employees, including the company’s vice president for VIP marketing, being detained by Chinese authorities on suspicion of “gambling crimes”.
