Washington State Talks Sports Betting; Kentucky Urged To Approve Integrity Fee

In 1973, when the Gambling Act was first passed in Washington state, 100 square sports pool boards were allowed, but single-game wagers, parlay bets, office sports pools and fantasy sports have never been legal, according to gaming regulators.

Sometime early next month, state legislators will resume their work with many lawmakers on both sides of the political aisle tipped to be open to considering sports-betting legislation.

In Washington state, as elsewhere, there are a number of stakeholders participating in the debate, from the horseracing industry to tribal gaming and the state’s lottery.
