Washington Fantasy Sports Bill Hits Early Stumbling Block

The chair of a Washington state Senate committee said Wednesday that a bill to exempt fantasy sports contests from state gambling laws is unlikely to advance out of that committee during the first year of Washington’s two-year legislative session.

“I think it is frankly unlikely that we would move this bill this year, and there is still interest here in learning more about it and to see what other states are doing,” Republican Michael Baumgartner, who chairs the Senate Committee on Commerce, Labor and Sports, said during an hour-long committee work session.
