Washington’s Lottery Turns To Internet Poker As Revenues Slide

The D.C. Lottery is about to embark on an aggressive expansion to include online poker and interactive fantasy sports games after a legal amendment was approved as part of the District of Columbia’s proposed 2011 budget.

The amendment, entitled the ‘Lottery Modernization Act of 2010’, authorizes the D.C. Lottery to offer skill games like poker via the Internet inside D.C. borders and it comes as the District of Columbia seeks to bolster lottery revenues in the face of a $200m projected budget deficit.
