With less than six weeks remaining in this year’s legislative session in Virginia, gambling lobbyists appear to have momentum as they prepare to launch an aggressive campaign to bring casinos to the Old Dominion, a nickname bestowed upon the state by King Charles II for its perceived loyalty to the English monarchy.
Companion bills in the Virginia House and Senate would allow five casinos in the cities of Bristol, Danville, Norfolk, Portsmouth and the state capital of Richmond.
