It took Republican Governor Phil Scott less than two minutes without comment on Thursday to put his signature on a bill to legalize and regulate paid-entry fantasy sports, making Vermont the 12th state in the country to embrace the industry.
The state estimates that some 80,000 Vermonters have participated in at least one fantasy sports contest. The law requires players to be 18 years of age or older, while mandating player funds and operational funds be maintained in separate accounts.
