Venezuela’s controversial President Hugo Chávez has hinted that he may make moves against casinos and bingos as part of his plans to install “21st century socialism” in Venezuela.
Casino and bingo operators are just two sectors of the business world awaiting the latest political and economic moves by Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez.
Although typically dubbed a “radical populist” by opponents - including those in the Bush White House – following his clear election victory in December 2006, Chávez has announced his determination to take his populist ‘Bolivarian’ revolution in Venezuela one step further and transform the oil-rich South American country into a socialist republic.
