In the latest move to bring the country’s gambling industry under greater regulatory control, the Venezuelan government has announced a three year moratorium on the import of slot machines.
The National Commission for Casinos, Bingo and Slot Machines in Venezuela has announced a ruling suspending for the next three years the import of new slot machines into the South American country. The Commission will not accept new requests from machine importers and distributors for import permits, and will only consider requests currently pending once the applicant in question has agreed to comply fully with new regulations controlling the gambling industry, as well as laws concerning tourism and labour.
