Uzbekistan’s lottery business is set to be totally restructured by a draft government decree that would see the country court foreign experience to run a new national lottery.
A presidential decree titled "On measures to further improve the organisation of lotteries" would revamp the lottery sector, which has offered the only legal gambling in Uzbekistan since 2007.
The idea is to form a national lottery operator while shutting down all existing lotteries, the majority of which are currently run by the state-owned People’s Bank of Uzbekistan.
