U.S. States Keeping Tight Leash On Bet Types

States rapidly joining the legal sports-betting game are following Australian jurisdictions more than Nevada or most of Europe by closely controlling the wagering markets permitted in their jurisdictions.

Draft regulations published earlier this month in both Indiana and Iowa would continue a clear trend of states restricting wagering to only specific bet types and sporting competitions meeting the approval of regulators, with Indiana also proposing to maintain a published list of “approved event categories” on its website once betting kicks off later this year.
