U.S. Lottery Industry Involvement In Sports Betting Tipped To Increase

The U.S. lottery industry generates about $80bn annually selling its traditional games, but officials believe that number will only increase as more state lotteries look to add sports betting to their product mix.

Following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on May 14 to overturn the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) of 1992, several lottery commissions — Delaware, Rhode Island and West Virginia — have become regulators of sports betting within their states.
