U.S. iGaming Proponents Break Even In 2016

For U.S. internet gambling backers, it was a so-so year in which the failure of state bills to legalize online gaming was offset by the failure of federal bills to ban it, according to leading industry observers.

In 2016, six states considered bills to authorize internet casino-style gambling, unchanged versus 2015, according to GamblingCompliance research.

But for a third consecutive year, no such bills were enacted.

"From my perspective, it was an in-between year," said Dennis Neilander, a former chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board who is now a gaming attorney with firm Kaempfer Crowell in Las Vegas.
