U.S. Bettors Staking More As Niche Sports Fill Pandemic Void

Data from the Oregon Lottery’s Scoreboard online sportsbook indicates that the rise of niche sports including table tennis and MMA since mid-March has been accompanied by growth in average U.S. bet size and an increasing prominence of in-play betting.

Detailed reports on monthly activity for Oregon Lottery’s "Scoreboard", based on data collated by platform provider SBTech, have demonstrated which non-core sports have driven betting volumes in the absence of NBA and Major League Baseball action this spring.

Although it operates in parallel with land-based sportsbooks stationed at tribal casinos, the online monopoly held by the Oregon Lottery allows for the reporting of uniquely detailed state-wide sports-betting trends.
