The President of Ukraine has promised to legalise casino gambling in a bid to develop tourism in the Black Sea region, fight corruption and overturn post-Soviet regulations.
Volodymyr Zelensky, the TV comedian turned President, told journalists his views on regulating gambling at the Ukraine-Turkey Business Forum in Istanbul on August 7.
“We will legalise gambling, namely the operation of casinos in five-star hotels which would stimulate the development of the tourism cluster in the Black Sea region. We want to grow in this area,” said Zelensky.
Ukraine’s gambling prohibition currently forbids individuals to pay any form of money for a chance to win any type of prize.
