A consortium representing the interests of UK independent bookmakers has said it will not join the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) until its members’ advertising restrictions are revealed.
The Bookmakers Technology Consortium (BTC), a non-profit aimed at assisting independent bookmakers with the procurement and operation of new technologies, fears that the BGC will create an “un-level playing field” for its smaller members.
The BGC will be the trade association formed by the imminent merger of the Association of British Bookmakers (ABB), of which many independents are members, and the Remote Gambling Association (RGA).
