UK Gambling Operators Warned to Stop 'Warfare'

The UK gambling industry faces an “existential threat” if it cannot end its “internecine warfare” and improve its image by practising responsible gambling, the chair of the industry's largest charity has said.

Trust in the gambling industry is dropping, and its treatment by government and society will get worse if the industry cannot unite to make a “massive change in attitude”, said Kate Lampard, chair of GambleAware, the industry-funded treatment and research charity.

Lampard was among the speakers at GambleAware's fifth Harm Minimisation conference on Wednesday. The event continues today in London.
