UK Bookmakers Should Rethink Shops To Rescue Retail, Analyst Says

UK bricks-and-mortar bookmakers can still be a significant source of profit despite drastic stakes cuts to their lucrative fixed-odds betting terminals (FOBTs) by transforming themselves into “entertainment venues with a loyal customer base”, one analyst has said.

Many betting shops will close following the stakes cut to controversial FOBTs, but those that remain could have higher per-shop revenue, according to Ivor Jones, an analyst with Peel Hunt.
