The UK government has u-turned on its decision to exclude casinos, betting shops and bingo halls from receiving an exemption from paying business rates in 2020/21.
UK industry trade group the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) last night welcomed the “confirmation that our members will qualify for a business rates holiday like all other businesses in the retail, leisure and hospitality industry”.
BGC chief executive Michael Dugher said the announcement will “help to protect tens of thousands of jobs”.
