Two Illinois Casino Bills Likely To Produce Same Revenue

A bill that would allow only one mega casino in Chicago would produce about the same amount of tax revenue as another bill which would allow casinos in Chicago and four other Illinois communities, a state financial analyst told an Illinois House committee on Monday.

The Chicago-only casino bill would generate about $445m compared with $451m for the five-casino bill, according to Eric Noggle, a senior analyst at the bipartisan Illinois Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability (COGFA).

“Our latest figures are a lot less than they have been in the past,” Noggle told the Illinois House Executive Committee during a two-hour hearing at the Bilandic Building in downtown Chicago.
