Tax Proposals Endanger Mexican Gaming Boom

An additional 20 percent tax on gaming services proposed by the Mexican Government threatens to choke a much-anticipated boom in the Mexican gambling market.

Should the new tax rate put before Congress by the Mexican Government last week gain approval analysts believe that those companies tipped to profit hugely from the new types of games authorised under President Vicente Fox’s 2004 amendment to Mexican gaming laws would need to revise their business models.
