Taiwanese Gangster’s Macau VIP Operation Linked To Suncity

A Taiwanese gangster reported to have lost significant funds in Macau VIP room operations has admitted to a years-long business partnership with leading junket Suncity and its boss Alvin Chau.

Lin Bing-wen, infamous for organising a Taiwanese baseball match-fixing racket in 2008, told the Taiwanese edition of the Apple Daily newspaper on Sunday that his VIP room operation had lost a lot of money over the past few days, although he did not confirm reported losses of more than 1bn yuan ($148m), as reported by the daily.

Lin, in his 50s and known in gangster circles as the “Swamp Eel”, confirmed to the newspaper that he was behind the Venus Group, which has links to Suncity, Macau’s dominant junket.
