Swedish Survey Suggests Problem Gamblers Dodging Government Limits

  • Trade group contends limits mean problem gambling not tracked 
  • Majority of limit busters nevertheless feel warm towards ceiling

A Svenska Spel survey of players who hit Sweden's emergency pandemic-linked 5,000-kronor (€488) weekly deposit limits has found that two-thirds experienced harm from gambling, and a third of them jumped to other websites to continue their gambling.

About 28 percent of those surveyed said they have five or more accounts, and data suggests that such behaviour started before the temporary measures began, the company said.

More than 40 percent of those surveyed said they had been blocked at other websites.
