Several of Sweden’s largest operators are loudly protesting fines for taking bets on sports that involved under-18s which they say were the result of an opaque and unresponsive regulator.
Last week, eight online gambling companies were fined up to 10m kronor (€900,000) for offering markets on under-19 Swedish football matches.
It was confirmed on Tuesday in a letter sent by trade association BOS to the Swedish Gambling Authority that four of the most prominent fined companies will be launching appeals.
Flutter Entertainment’s Betfair, bet365, GVC’s Bwin and The Stars Group will all launch formal objections.
