Steve Wynn cannot be punished with fines by Nevada gambling regulators because he has already left the casino industry and will remain on the sidelines, attorneys for the former chairman and CEO of Wynn Resorts have argued in a response to a state complaint.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) is seeking to formally banish Wynn from the casino industry over allegations of workplace sexual harassment, by having his status as a person suitable to hold a gaming license revoked. In an October 14 NGCB complaint, regulators also said they want the Nevada Gaming Commission (NGC) to order Wynn to pay a fine.
Attorneys for Wynn argue that because he has left the company and has no financial interest in it, regulators no longer have jurisdiction over him.
