States Turning To Internet Gambling To Ease Fiscal Woes

Gamblers in New Jersey could use the websites of Atlantic City casinos to gamble on the internet if a new bill introduced by State Senator Raymond Lesniak becomes law.The bill is an effort to get around federal restrictions on internet gambling by confining online wagering within the borders of New Jersey, or intrastate.

The New Jersey Casino Control Commission would regulate intrastate internet gambling and servers would be confined to Atlantic County, which includes Atlantic City. Only the state’s land-based casinos would be licensed for internet gambling, according to Lesniak’s bill.
