Sports Betting In Iowa Has Minnesota Looking To Revive Wagering Bills

Diamond Jo Casino, just a 90-minute drive south from the Twin Cities, has become a marquee attraction for Minnesotans looking to wager on their favorite local teams, a trend noticed by several lawmakers who support legalizing sports betting in Minnesota.

Iowa legalized wagering on college and professional sports on August 15, and the FanDuel Sportsbook at Diamond Jo’s opened about three weeks ago, with Minnesota Vikings Hall of Fame defense tackle John Randle making the first official bet.

“We’ve been getting lot of people from Minnesota at Diamond Jo. The first few weeks are going great,” Emily Bass, a FanDuel spokeswoman, told GamblingCompliance.
