Combined sales in the Sports and Welfare lottery modes in June were down only 3.4 percent year-on-year to 33.57bn yuan ($4.79bn), according to Ministry of Finance data released on Monday.
Sports-betting volume more than doubled month-on-month as international football competitions resumed, the data shows.
Sports-betting sales were down 33.9 percent year-on-year to 6.36bn yuan, but this haul was a 134 percent increase from May, when sports-betting haul was down 72 percent year-on-year.
