An increase in the rate of remote gaming duty paid by UK online operators from 15 to 21 percent from the start of April is the most significant of a minor wave of tax grabs implemented or proposed in regulated online gambling markets across Europe in 2019.
The increase in remote gaming duty (RGD) payable by UK licensees was brought forward from October 1, 2019 to April 1, 2019 to coincide with the expedited reduction to the maximum stake of fixed-odds betting terminals (FOBTs) to £2.
