Social Media Stars Prop Up Roaring Skins Gambling Trade

Repeated attempts by regulators and video game companies to clamp down on illicit skins gambling have largely failed to inhibit today’s thriving black market, often openly supported through advertising on YouTube and video streaming services.

The skins betting industry is today intertwined with the careers of many online content creators, some of whom have millions of followers on social media and who continue to introduce gamers as young as 11 to unlicensed gaming websites.

Most recently, a popular YouTuber, under the username Anomaly, was implicated in an online exposé of allegedly rigged Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) skins gambling websites.
