Sessions Wields Double-Edged Sword On Internet Gambling

As Republican Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama awaits his confirmation as the next attorney general of the United States, his comments on internet gambling are turning out to be a double-edged sword. 

During his confirmation hearing on January 10, Sessions pledged to “revisit” the 2011 opinion by the U.S. Department of Justice that enabled states to launch internet gambling operations.

Sessions also said he was “shocked” by the opinion.

On Tuesday, Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee requested and received a postponement until January 31 on the committee’s vote on Sessions’ nomination.
