Senate Panel Unanimously Approves NIGC Chairman's Nomination

In a hearing lasting less than five minutes, the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs on Wednesday approved by a unanimous voice vote the nomination of E. Sequoyah Simermeyer to become the new chairman of the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC).

It is not yet clear if Simermeyer’s nomination will advance to the Senate floor by the end of this week or if the Senate will wait until after its annual August recess to schedule the confirmation vote.

The 43-year-old Simermeyer, who was nominated by President Trump on June 26 to become NIGC chairman, did not attend Wednesday’s hearing.
