Like a fabled sunset on Key West, the gambling compact between the Seminole Tribe and the state of Florida appears to be fading gently over the horizon.
After years of failing to renew the groundbreaking compact of 2010, both the Seminoles and Florida lawmakers seem to have decided to settle for the status quo.
“To not have to deal with the Seminole compact and the threat of paying and not paying every single year, I think it’s somewhat refreshing in Florida because that was always hanging out there,” said a Florida gaming attorney who requested anonymity.
