A Schleswig-Holstein court has said that the German state treaty's ban on online casino is not incompatible with European Union law, as part of the ruling on a Malta-based gambling company denied legitimacy in the only German state with online casino licensing.
The state’s Higher Administrative Court rejected the challenge to the state treaty filed by Malta-licensed NetBet Enterprises Ltd, which arose from its attempt to overturn a ban from Schleswig-Holstein's interior ministry.
That ban came because the company had not applied for a licence in 2012, the last time that the northern state took online casino applications.
