Schleswig-Holstein Coalition Set To Torpedo German State Treaty

A proposed Schleswig-Holstein state government coalition agreement, announced on Friday, would suspend ratification of amendments to the German interstate gambling treaty, effectively dooming them by ruling out the required unanimous vote of all 16 states.

The heads of the Green, Liberal and Christian Democratic parties in the small German state have agreed on a 114-page document which would cement their coalition and set in motion a programme to reject amendments to the state treaty that would have maintained plans to limit online gambling and sports betting.
