A new chapter of the battle over official data in sports betting may be evident in recent regulations and legislation introduced in several U.S. jurisdictions.
Several of the country’s major professional sports leagues have pushed states to require that operators use official league data for all in-play wagering, but to date only two states, Tennessee and Illinois, have included statutory mandates in their laws.
In states without the mandates, leagues have also lobbied gaming authorities to include official-data restrictions in their implementing regulations, but no state regulator has done so yet without a legislative requirement.
