Quinault Nation Sue Counter-Strike Game Maker Over Skins Gambling

A Native American tribe that operate a casino in Washington state have filed suit in state court against Valve Corporation, accusing the video game company of facilitating illegal online gambling through skins associated with games such as Dota 2 and Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO).

The Quinault Indian Nation, which own and operate Quinault Beach Resort and Casino, argue Value is engaging in unfair competition with licensed and regulated casinos in Washington, which have to deal with extensive regulation to operate.

In addition, the lawsuit references Valve’s use of so-called “loot crates,” or “loot boxes,” which have been investigated as a potential form of gambling by regulators around the world.
