After September 1st 2007, the provisions of the Gambling Act 2005 go into effect that will result in changes to the licensing issues faced by entities seeking to acquire existing gambling operators.Under current and future legislation regulating the gambling industry in Great Britain, gambling licences and certificates required for certain individuals working in the industry are particular to the individual, and the business as it is currently owned.
In order to purchase a business which holds a gambling operating licence, the consent of the regulator must be obtained in order to enable the business to continue operating after the acquisition.
